Screen shake, or camera shake, is a game design techniques used to implement game feel or juice into video games. During game development, game developers may add screen shake to create a sense of weight to the actions in the game. Screen shake cane be used in a variety of ways though, including making explosions more impactful, swaying back and forth, adding a sense of speed and even communicating to the player.
