It has been dubbed the most remarkable British Air Attack since the Second World War. It is certainly the longest range bombing raid ever conducted. The target was the Airfield at Stanley in the Falklands which had been taken over by Argentine Forces on 2 April 1982. The Vulcan Bomber took off from Ascension Island on an 8,000-mile round trip. The Black Buck raid is a remarkable piece of military history which Rowland White has written about in his book, 'Vulcan 607'.
