One of the things I always wanted ever since I saw the first Star Wars movie was a lightsaber. Okay, I wanted an X-Wing Fighter and an astromech droid, but for the purpose of this story stay with me. I have 3D-printed many lightsaber hilts including Darth Vader's and Obi-Wan Kenobi's, but they just never felt right if that makes sense. Well, that all changes today as Nsabers just sent me one of their new lightsabers and this thing is flipping awesome. Let's take a look at it because I finally have a real lightsaber, this is the Mando SE Neopixle Lightsaber.

Out of the box you get the hilt itself, the blade, a secondary emitter, a USB-C charging cable, a display stand, and instructions. One of the cool things is you can display it both with or without the blade attached. To hold the blade into place three grub screws screw into the hilt. Don't crank these down too hard, you don't want to damage the base of your blade.

The hilt itself is a beautiful piece of artistry. It is machined aluminum that, at least in this instance, has been black anodized. The bottom of the hilt unscrews to give you access to the USB-C charging port and the electronics board. Interesting to note here that there is a microSD card reader inside the hilt, I will have to investigate the files that are on this later.

With the blade attached to the hilt I powered it up and man, the reaction you see in the video was legit excitement. It sounds so good, it looks so good, it's amazingly well-balanced, this thing is awesome. You can change the colors, and there's an app you can download for your iPhone or Android device to be able to customize the blade colors and sound effects as well. It even plays music!
