One of the things that I have struggled with over the years has been how to store my video games in a way that is neat and organized, gives me access to them, and is attractive to look at. Like many others I've used storage cabinets, and shelving units, I've even designed my own 3D printed stands for the Nintendo Switch, the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Xbox games. However, the problem with many of these storage solutions is that they all require a shelf to sit on top of. On a recent look around Thingiverse and Printables I discovered several wall-mounted solutions that I liked, but they weren't quite perfect. One model in particular really caught my eye with its elegantly simple design that I figured I could re-engineer so I did. Let's take a look at how I Finally Fixed My Nintendo Switch Game Storage Issues with 3D printing.

One of the things I really liked about this model was how simple it was, it didn’t use a ton of extra material, and overall it didn’t exactly what I wanted to do, hold my Nintendo Switch Games on the wall. One thing I didn’t love about this particular model was that it only held 10 games at a time which, while a decent amount, I wanted more. On my Bambu Labs P1P and P1S 3D printers, the print bed is 256mm by 256mm, so while I really wanted a 20 game holder I had to compromise with a design that held 15 games. I was able to fit two of these on my print bed on a single time, and after 9 hours I had my tests done.

I checked the fitment of the cartridge cases and I loved how well they fit in the unit. I marked my holes on my wall and made sure they were level, and installed some wall anchors before mounting the displays to the wall. They look and work fantastically, and I spaced them out enough that I am able to remove games from the bottom holder without hitting my hand or the upper holder.

This is one of the things I love about 3D printing, that you can come up with so many great solutions for everyday problems, and even if you can’t come up with a solution there’s the potential that the community has you covered!
