Nintendo Music iOS & Android Apps - Ok But Not Great
Nintendo has continued to embrace more and new features with the Nintendo Switch, from the Switch ONLINE Service which allows you to play retro classics on modern hardware to cross-play with select Xbox and PlayStation gamers. Their newest features is a bit odd and unique, but it’s something I kinda like and want to see them develop more. That is the Nintendo Switch Music App for iOS and Android. Let’s take a look.
What is it:
Enjoy Nintendo game music – now on your smart device!
Kick back and enjoy some Nintendo tunes with Nintendo Music, the exclusive smart-device app for Nintendo Switch Online members that lets you stream or download Nintendo soundtracks, create and share playlists, browse music by different categories, and more!

Recommendations just for you: Browse through ready-made playlists or get recommendations based on your Nintendo Switch play history.
Hide spoilers! Haven’t finished the game yet? No problem. You can choose to hide soundtracks that might give away the big ending or surprise boss.
Keep the party going: Extend some of your favorite tracks for up to 60 minutes seamlessly or loop them!
What do I think:
I think this is a really neat concept but a few years later than it should be. At this point, almost 8 years into the Switch’s life I would like to see a deeper library of game music on the service. Yes, it’s “free” but only to Switch Online members so it is technically a paid service. Why every game on the Switch Online platform, from NES, SNES, Famicom, Super Famicom, N64, Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, and yes, even the Genesis and Mega Drive don’t have their music on here is a bit unforgivable. I do like the fact that they included both the Famicom and NES version of Metroid And the Famicom Disk System Version why they didn’t do this with more tracks just doesn’t make sense. The potential is there, I just fear Nintendo will leave this as-is now that it is out and this is the best we can hope for.
