In the game, players take on the mission to rescue Annie, a mermaid held captive alongside six Goonie friends in Ma Fratelli's hideout. To save Annie, all six Goonies must be found. Mikey, the brave leader, must face the Fratelli family, led by Ma Fratelli, the cunning mastermind. Her dangerous sons and their sly cousin, Pip Squeek Fratelli, add treachery to the mission.
The labyrinthine hideout, divided into FRONT and BACK sections, spans from the attic to deep underground. To navigate it, players rely on "Magic Implements" like Glasses to reveal hidden doors, the Diving Suit for underwater exploration, and the Hammer to find secret passages. The Transceiver provides clues about Goonie locations, while the Ladder aids in reaching inaccessible spots.
Survival is enhanced by tools like the Bulletproof Vest, which reduces damage, and the Bomb Box, allowing players to carry up to five bombs. Other items include the Waterproof Coat for protection against waterfalls, the Fire Box for storing Molotov Cocktails, and shoes like the Hyper Shoes for speed and Jumping Shoes for mobility. The Helmet protects against falling hazards, and the Candle lights up dark areas.
Gameplay alternates between Action Scenes, involving movement, attacks, and jumps, and Adventure Scenes, where players search for Implements, Goonies, and hidden paths.
