The Hardcore Retro God (Review #55 - Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde)
4Considering it’s been more than a month since my previous review, why not lash out another one? Despite being warned by other sources to avoid this weekend’s choice - it’s about time we’ve ventured into ‘CRAP CENTRAL’ yet again… Known by many as one of the "WORST GAMES OF ALL TIME" (not to mention the HARDEST - seriously, I'd rather play E.T. on Atari 2600 8,000,000,000 times over), Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde was developed by Advance Communications (Circus Caper, Super Godzilla, Dynowarz) on behalf of Toho in Japan under the title 'Houma ga Toki' and in the US on behalf of Bandai (aka Bandai Namco today).
Based loosely on the late Robert Louis Stevenson's gothic literary works, the title scientist is hell-bent on making his way to the big wedding between him and the lovely Ms. Millicent. However, lots of threats STAND IN HIS WAY...and if they manage to PISS YOU OFF way too much - the iconic transformation to his “dark psyche” Edward Hyde comes into play.
If you're Hyde, you're transported to an alternate, dark world filled with nightmarish creatures, within which you're equipped with not only a normal punch, but a shifting 'Psycho Wave' projectile (hence what's mentioned on the box) - unlike in the normal world within which Jekyll's stuck with a lousy cane that does absolute ZILCH.
