The I of the Dragon gameplay Steam Deck OLED performance test [Docked]
There are a lot of videos on YT with various games tested on Steam Deck. Most of them present the footage of the screen and how the game looks ON Steam Deck. Some people, however, use their Steam Deck as a desktop PC or a regular console. My tests intend to show how the game looks and performs on an external screen, in full HD (not in 4k for performance reasons) with certain scaling options.
The I of the Dragon is a classic first released in 2002 by a Russian developer called Primal Software. It's a unique title that offers playing as a very unusual protagonist - a dragon. And not just a regular guy that can transform into a dragon, the plot is not just made around dragons or it's not about a dragon companion - you are THE dragon. From the top of my head, I can't think of any similar titles maybe except for Hoarder, a casual game with top-down view in which you hoard treasures as a dragon. In The I of the Dragon, your task is to fight evil and help humans with the use of your powers. You fly around, breathe fire, cast spells, you even have a hunger meter! It's a very original game but with one major flaw - the controls. It might be visible in the video - the targeting, avoiding attacks or such a simple thing as switching between grab and fire attack is atrocious and really hard to adapt to for a modern player. Still, I remember playing this as a teenager and I was blown away by the graphics (you can recognize an old Russian game from a mile away), the freedom of exploration (back in the day, such scale of locations was truly something) and the simple yet satisfying gameplay. I've never finished the game so maybe it is time for me to play through the entire thing on the Steam Deck :)
NOTE: Bear in mind that this is recorded in the docked mode, meaning the performance might always be a bit lower than in the regular handheld mode due to the scaling, etc. #iofthedragon #steamdeck #theiofthedragon #onsteamdeck #performance #oldgames #retrogames #oldpcgaming #dragon #gameplay #playthrough #longplay #walkthrough #letsplay
