Tower of Fantasy gameplay on Steam Deck [Docked] Part 02 A visit to Hykros
0There are a lot of videos on YT with various games tested on Steam Deck. Most of them present the footage of the screen and how the game looks ON Steam Deck. Some people, however, use their Steam Deck as a desktop PC or a regular console. My tests intend to show how the game looks and performs on an external screen, in full HD (not in 4k for performance reasons) with certain scaling options.
Gacha games are a peculiar species. You often get a free game that surprisingly surpasses AA titles, but covered in layers upon layers of in-game currencies, random systems, lootboxes, etc., everything finished with a fair share of sexualized anime characters. Tower of Fantasy is no different. I tried it and played it for quite a time on PS4 when I came across it in the "free games" category. That is why I now decided to test it on the Steam Deck and, because of its convenience, try to play at least through the entire story and see how far will I manage to get without paying any money :)
NOTE: Bear in mind that this is recorded in the docked mode, meaning the performance might always be a bit lower than in the regular handheld mode due to the scaling, etc.
NOTE 2: The game's performance dropped significantly after I played for some time in the open world. That is why I changed the resolution settings from pure 1080x1080 to 720p which is then upscaled by the Steam Deck. The FPS is still unstable, but I think this is just how this game works in general.
