Last week I had figured I'd have to give up Vampire Darkstalkers Collection and Street Fighter Alpha Anthology on PS2, because I found the weird blur filter they have (Anthology's is worse) is stronger in the center of the screen than at the edges, and that was messing with my eyes. o.O
BUT fortunately I found a second sharpening filter in my TV's options that does a better job of minimizing that effect...so we're back to some amazing PS2 blur filter videos! : D = o
Here I'm taking my first crack at the Vs. CPU mode--you still have to plug in a second controller to pick the P2 character, which is so silly : P but was weirdly the norm for Capcom games back then--in the Vampire Darkstalkers Collection's unlockable remix version of Vampire Savior 2: this one lets you play with the three characters Hunter 2 had but Savior 2 didn't, basically, so you have access to all the Vampire characters in one game.
To make the matches run longer so I wouldn't have to re-pick characters constantly (why don't most games give you the option of re-randomizing for a rematch if you selected the character with the random select? sheesh), I set the game to four lives (bats) each.
I wasn't sure this would pan out but you know, I think this is the most pure fun I've had with a fighting game in some time! Just crazy monster mashing matches, one after the other! It really is addictive. I think this is the way I'm gonna do it from now on. : D Man, the color and sound and stages and animation and character designs...is this the most amazing audio-visual fighting game feast around? I think it might be. : o I think I've finally fallen totally in love with Vampire.
