Game description:

Electronic Arts' The Last Gladiator brings the age-old bloodsport into the future with a number of futuristic weapons and deadly monsters. Before the action commences, one must select between the Gladiator or the female Gladiatrix. Once the character is chosen, one of eight levels awaits. Each level focuses on a different weapon, and the higher the level, the more monsters there are. Weapons include pistols, a pitchfork and a club.

The action takes place on a fixed screen in the middle of an arena. Fanatics are located all over the arena, cheering on the character of choice. When the round starts, the character will move out of the gate. The level's weapon is somewhere in the arena, and this should be located as soon as possible. When the weapon has been obtained, monsters and hideous beasts are unleashed into the arena.

Monsters include lizard men, arachnids and octopi. The lizard shoots a laser toward the character, and the arachnid will fire a line of webbing. The octopi will devour the Gladiator whole. When the character is caught in webbing, it will limit his/her movement. Some monsters are stronger than others and have more hit points. In order to survive the onslaught and be victorious, one must maneuver the gladiator around the foe, smack or shoot him a few times, then run and repeat.
