*Warning! - I may rant on about the story in the description so be aware there might be spoilers there if you read through it.*

The Last Promise was created by Blazer and is a hack for Fire Emblem: Blazing Sword. This hack is a full length adventure filled with danger, some new items & classes as well as music, and a very well balanced difficulty curve.

You can head to the following site to keep up with the latest news regarding the hack and download the latest version of it:

ROM should be easy enough to find on your own.

Oh hey we basically get to play through chapter 18 again, except this time Cid's back and he want his precious castles returned to him.

Pre-battle preparations, most important thing I did was to give my Boots to Rex. He's gonna be one of my most important characters for this playthrough and I'd like him to zip around the battlefield and reach key targets quickly.

As for the objective here, you have to protect two targets guarding castles. A green army General guards the SE area while Duke Paul himself guards Aegis. While the General is probably going to get into trouble if those mages close in, Duke Paul is capable of holding his own ground.

Of course, if you play this map right, nothing will ever reach those two.

Granted, you could hold out for 12 turns and end this. It's entirely possible now though to take out Cid if you desire.

Firstly, villages. You can visit the two that gave items before. One, the NE, still gives an item out. The SE one just gives you a sad tale.

As for the enemies, well, Cid didn't bother to bring his elite units. Nothing that you can't handle here.

This chapter is best utilized for bringing up low leveled characters you plan to use or those who are very close to leveling.

Once turn 2 ends, reinforcements start spawning in 4 spots...by the NE village, a couple groups from the west near Cid, by the SW village where the shops are (which you can still buy things from if you wish), and at the SE island by the houses.

You should split up into 4 teams to handle this. Seems like it is thinning your team out too much, but the enemies are really not that threatening. You'll want a couple of your best units at the NE spawns since 4 enemies pop up there every turn until turn 10 and someone who can dodge really well and tank magic to deal with the reinforcements by Cid. As for the other two spawn points, just use whomever can handle them.

This happens to be a real nice chapter to train up Anakin. Because he just gets so dodgy at high levels, he can tank the two spawn point by Cid. The mages won't do anything to him due to his high resistance and he'll likely dodge the two Fighters with little effort. If he does get hit by them, his regen will cover up the damage taken within two turns. Just keep a pack of Elixirs on him on the off chance an unlucky streak presents itself.

Make sure to get several strong characters near Cid before the turn limit is up so you can take him down.

Cid's a pretty beefy fellow with two pretty nice stabby weapons. His Spear is a pretty solid ranged weapon while his backup weapon is a new item, the Adamant Lance. Very powerful weapon which is dependent on the enemy's Res, not Def.

Now then, whatever weapon Cid doesn't have equipped is the one he drops upon his defeat.

Cid can't take magic hits too terribly well so that ends up being the quickest way to drop him. Just be careful of his counterattack damage.

As a special bonus, Rex gets a unique conversation here...with his dad. Yes, Cid is Rex's father, something you'd find out if you checked Rex's bio on his status screen.

Chapter went pretty well all things considered, but no lie, I was concerned that I'd not get Cid down on that last turn. Half expected Rex to be able to double Cid. Thankfully Anakin weakened him enough for Rex to get in the killing blow (As he should. Cid's his father anyways). Rex gets a nice level up from downing his father at least and his Adamant Lance.

Some pretty decent level ups all around the rest of the team too...unless your name is Anakin. He got a 7 stat level up this mission. Gotta love when that happens.
