I'll show you how to get water by melting snow in a fire or stove or fire barrel. You can then boil this non potable water to purify it and drink it.

You don't need to actually collect snow or even be outdoors. As long as you have a fire or stove or fire barrel you have the option to melt snow when you click on the fire and click the water droplet icon near the top right.

If you just started out you'll need to collect some branches or wood to start your fire. If you started with the default Voyager difficulty setting you should start with 1 box of matches and some tinder and accelerant.
