Enjoyable but rough around the edges, the Morrigan shows a lot of potential. There's a pretty solid Dark Souls feel to the game on Hard that's very unforgiving but still fair. There are some indie level elements that break immersion though which I'd love to see worked on.

The graphics style is low poly but not low quality. This is the first thing people see and I feel like it's going to be very polarizing in the community. The more I look at it the more it grows on me and it works well in headset. Let me tell you, when you've got 6 angry skeletons chasing you down a very small room... You're crapping your pants, not thinking about their poly count! Don't dismiss the game on graphics alone.

There are a few parts of the world that could use some touching up such as the door in the Queens chambers that's so painfully obviously sitting in front of a wall or the path out of the town that abruptly cuts off unnaturally if you look out the gate. Things no one is supposed to look at.... but... once you see them it damages immersion. A little more care here would be nice.

The audio is decent. Nothing spectacular but nothing stood out as a problem either. The most memorable audio bit was the creepy whispering in the cut scene or when that one guy in the Beginning level was sitting across the gap staring at us. Voice acting for the cut scenes would be nice.

Combat is both a positive and something that I'd like to see more polish on. Specifically the enemies getting overly close to you while wielding excessively large weapons. Enemies should stand at a reasonable range for the weapon their wielding. In close for daggers or short swords sure but when you've got a 3-4 foot long weapon the enemies shouldn't be close enough to hug me!

On the up side though, it is a well done physics based combat system. Not perfect, but well done none the less. Enemies telegraph attacks but not excessively. You'll need to put in some time before you learn their attack patterns and reliably be able to parry attacks. And parrying attacks is pretty vital to being able to attack back without getting blocked. You'll find a flow of parrying, dodging or blocking and then counter attacking more than you you will be on the offensive. Again, much like Dark Souls. It's a satisfying system that feels fair. When you die, it's because you failed to read an attack and missed a block you should have seen coming.

Combat definitely tickles that "just one more round" feeling. Dying is frustrating but it's frustrating in that motivational, "I will beat this" sort of way. For me at least.

Item usage is a bit weird. I just shove things into my face to use them. No, not to my mouth as if I'm eating the cheese/apple/whatever. Literally put the thing IN my face. Health potion in a glass vial? Insert directly into brain via face! I just feels odd. It works, but it's not intuitive nor does it really feel good. This is one of those areas that could use some more polish.

I was happy with the dungeon design that I saw as well as the size and number of the available levels. It feels like the game is reasonably priced for the amount of content being offered. It may even be on the low end of things.

Overall a fun title that delivers a fun Semi-Souls like dungeon crawl experience. Well worth a pick up but don't expect AAA quality.
