The Ninja Kids Arcade Intro, Playthrough, Longpay via Arcade Archives on PlayStation 4 [UHD 4K60]
More than likely Taito were trying to cash in on the success of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Arcade game with The Ninja Kids. Get read for a full solo longplay, playthrough, walkthrough, guide & gameplay from us here at Randomised Gaming. Certainly not one of Taito's most well known games, The Ninja Kids is a scrolling beat'em up that borrows elements from more well known titles in the genre, like the for mentioned TMNT and Golden Axe. Taito weren't the best at the genre, but The Ninja Kids is perhaps their best shot at it.
All the heroes are puppets and like many arcade games from the era it uses lots of eye eye-catching colours. The look of the game very much has has a feel of "Bunraku" Japanese Puppet Theatre crossed with Sesame Street and the Muppets. As far as the gameplay goes it's very good, does it do anything out of the ordinary no, sadly not and there are plenty of better examples of the genre out there. What it is is a good entry point for the genre as it's well balance and one that's quite easy to learn and progress in.
Having played this one in the arcades back in the 90s it was a solid title and one we did finish as it isn't that long to playthrough. Each of the characters play slightly differently with a mix of range and close combat weapons. Look out for the boss of stage 3 that is clearly a Power Loader from the film Aliens.
