The Nostalgia is Fierce - TMNT Shredder's Revenge pt.2 (2022-06-17)
I get such a kick out of Donatello's taunt animation so it's nice that I'm able to use it so often to build up meter. I still want to figure out what the face is a reference to - I'm pretty sure it's SOMETHING, right?
Shredder's Revenge continues to have so many random references in background elements (Panzer Paladin for example [which I missed initially!] and what I thought was Windjammers 2, but now I'm not so sure), nods to older games having minigames like popping the Punk Frog balloons, and returning bosses like Baxter Stockman.
Speaking of obscure references, I finally looked up Tempestra, and apparently she was in a single episode where she also materializes into the real world.
As I play more, I'm discovering that the mechanics are pretty robust. For example, there seems to be a difference in iframes with forward and backward dodges (back seems to have a bit more). The slide attack (sprint into jump) is a low-profile move that will go under projectiles. I haven't been using it well enough yet, but there's a really distinct difference on how easily big enemies and especially bosses can be stunned with charged attacks (rather than some games just relying on them being a way to more DPS or burst damage between enemies/invulnerability periods).
