You know, the amount of time I've been gone for is about just enough to get me a "returning player" gift in most Korean MMOs. Am I still going to pretend it's somehow a big deal?

Yes.

I needed some time off. Am I here to stay? Maybe. I ended up with a lot of footage that wasn't really going anywhere, so I made this excuse of a comeback video so I could compile them into this mess. I'll make some brief comments on what I did during my break:

Touhou Kikeijuu ~ Willy Beast and Weakest Creature

When it's the 17th game, there is some standard of expected quality and without having having too high or low of an expectation. This is coming off 16 being rather underwhelming and featureless as well. Kikeijuu was pretty damn fun though, contender for the best recent Touhou with Kanjuden.

Was overall a horrific performance, even when considering that it was blind. Wasn't quite sure if the new mechanic actually works as a hit barrier until a few spells into the Extra stage, and the fact that it triggers instead of bomb killed me a few times. There's nothing quite as terrifying as when you have 3 spells left to do on one life, and are also expecting a bomb barrier on the last spell.

Hollow Knight

Yet another failed Pantheon run. It's not something you can do just by picking it up again, so I end up spending ages practicing it then taking another long break after being stomped by Zote. I wish Silksong along with the other titles I'm waiting on would actually release.

I'm really tempted to use a health bar mod since it doesn't actually influence gameplay while giving me something to expect for really long fights like Soul Tyrant and Zote, but if it truly didn't affect performance I wouldn't want it this badly. Instead, the only mod in use is the Custom Knight skin mod, using the Starry Knight (lol) skin.

I played a bunch of other games, but they were cut on account of not having enough footage and not wanting to make an hour long video. I did a lot of cooking too, which I find is the best way to relieve stress. Also took a bit of time to write again, which I haven't done for three years. My academic performance isn't doing any good though, despite not being distracted by games or online interactions as much. Oh well.

I honestly haven't done that much to do with EBF5, though Matt's making new games for me to break which is good. I know that the game isn't as relevant now, but I'll see if I can go ahead and finish a few videos that are hopefully funny enough out of context. In the meantime, do join us in the EBF Discord server to have a friendly chat. The activity seems to have died down quite a bit, but that's a good opportunity to join if you're intimidated by big gatherings.
