Previously, the party quested in the southern part of the Monarch Wilderness. They carried out the side quest "Little Memento", which took them to the Abandoned Safehouse west of Fallbrook. Past the bridge to the west, they found the C&P Boarst Factory, which they will explore later. Northwest of there, they examined Hayes' Grave for Nyoka's companion quest "Star-Crossed Troopers" and gave Hayes' CHARON Medallion to Nyoka. Then, the party reached the ghost town of Cascadia in the southwest corner of the Monarch Wilderness. They learned some information that puts Rizzo's high in the running for worst corporation in Halcyon. However, there is also highly complimentary information about Zora Blackwell. The party also found the entrance to the Rizzo Secret Laboratory. They will now explore this lab in search of the Alta-Vitae Gas for Lilya Hagen's faction quest "Space-Crime Continuum". There is also a science weapon hidden in the lab.
Rizzo Secret Laboratory:
The party resumes in the lobby of the Rizzo Secret Laboratory. It's so secret that the local map does not pinpoint the party's location. However, the layout is fairly straightforward.
The gate that leads to the security room requires a hefty Lockpicking skill of 150. However, this gate is optional.
In the break room, the party encounters a Mechanical Guardian MK2. With a Lie skill of 60+, the party can convince the automechanical that they are Rizzo employees. Otherwise, the party must defeat the Mechanical Guardian MK2 and the nearby Medical Drone.
Past the break room, the party reaches the security room. Using the terminal within, they review some messages. They also signal ADA to land the Unreliable on the Cascadia Landing Pad. This concludes the objective to signal the Unreliable for "Space-Crime Continuum".
The next objective is to setup a link to the refueling system. A search for fuel controls reveals that the party should use the terminal above the flavor R&D lab. However, Catherine warned that there may be Mantisaurs there.
The party opens the barred door and continues down the corridor beyond. Another barred door provides a shortcut to and from the lobby.
The corridors take the party past the flavor R&D lab, which is to the left. A locked door to the right that requires a Lockpicking skill of 35 leads to a small armory with some goodies.
The party can duke it out with the Mantisaurs in the lab, but they continue down the trap-filled corridor instead. The controls for the electric trip-wires are on the ceiling. Partway along, they will come to another shortcut door that requires a Lockpicking skill of 150. At the southern end of the corridor, there is a room with a couple of hostile Mechanical Guardian MK2s. The next corridor beyond this has some steam vents.
When the party reaches the room on the other side of the shortcut door, they find a terminal for the ventilation system. If Nyoka is in the party when they examine the terminal, she will implement a clean solution to the Mantisaur problem: lower the O2 concentration and suffocate them. Very helpful, Nyoka.
After unbarring the door to the north, the party enters the flavor R&D lab. They take advantage of the Workbench to repair their gear.
On the catwalk in the north of the flavor R&D lab, the party finds the Cascadia Refueling Terminal. After reviewing the logs, they choose to align the fueling system, which sets up the link to the Unreliable's fuel system. This concludes the objective to setup a link to the refueling system for "Space-Crime Continuum". The next objective is to siphon the gas. However, that must be done with the Executive Research Focus Group terminal elsewhere.
In the next room, the party finds a "Simple Shrine". That's ... intriguing. In an adjoining office, they find more logs from the scientist that was in charge of this place.
In the northeast of the facility, the party reaches another control room. If Parvati is in the party when they examine the terminal, she will transfer the Alta-Vitae Gas to the Unreliable's fuel tanks. Davilas earns a little extra XP with an Engineering skill of 60+. This concludes the objective to siphon the gas for "Space-Crime Continuum". The next objective is to return to Lilya on Groundbreaker.
