The Perfect Quest 2 Family Game / THE CURIOUS TALE OF THE STOLEN PETS Quest 2 Hand Tracking Gameplay
The Oculus Quest platform, and VR in general, is filled with adult experiences & immersive shooters but there are some incredible Quest 2 kids games / Quest 2 family games out there as well if you know where to look. One of those family friendly games is the incredibly sweet The Curious Tale of the Stolen Pets, a hidden object game that transports you to magical tiny worlds filled with secrets and wonder to be discovered. Each level of The Curious Tale of the Stolen Pets VR has several adorable animals tucked away inside it and it's up to you to find them, poke the bushes, interact with the world and explore to seek them all out & discover this heartwarming story of family & imagination. I'll also be testing The Curious Tale of the Stolen Pets hand tracking / The Curious Tale of the Stolen Pets Quest 2 hand tracking today to see how it stacks up against the conventional Quest 2 touch controllers, how far has this experimental technology come and how far does it have left to go?
Quest 2 hand tracking is an incredible thing, when it works, seeing you hands fully tracked in game right down to each individual finger movement is very impressive but too often the hands don't interact with the environment in the way they are supposed to. In The Curious Tale of the Stolen Pets the hand tracking worked intermittenly, actions like grabbing hold of the world and spinning it to gain a better vantage point didn't feel quite as smooth as I would've liked and ultimately using a Oculus Quest 2 touch controllers felt like the best option. If this technology can continue to advance and isolate hands against any backdrop or lighting/setting then we'll have a truly exciting way to interact with our VR games but it doesn't feel like we're there just yet.
The Curious Tale of the Stolen Pets Oculus Quest 2 version is absolutely delightful, an escapist, childlike, imagaination filled adventure that reminded me most of all the Where's Wally books I loved so much when I was younger. If you're researching Quest 2 family games / Oculus Quest 2 family games then make sure you check out The Curious Tale of the Stolen Pets, the perfect starter game for a young Quest player or a family playing together.
