Hectic parleys have begun as both the government and the opposition eye the seat at Raisina Hill. Mamata Banerjee called for a meeting of opposition parties in which 17 parties participated. The idea for the meet was to come up with a consensus candidate. However, the Opposition does not have a candidate yet as Sharad Pawar declined the offer. Interestingly, Rajnath Singh is leading the government's effort to rally parties around a BJP candidate.
