An adventure classic, The Secret of Monkey Island was the first game within the "Monkey Island" series and one of the few to be released on a home console (due to poor sales, another Monkey Island game wouldn't be released on a home console for nearly a decade). While the Sega CD game has its fans, it's simply no match for the original computer releases. Part of the reasons stated were its lower color display, password save system (which does not save some items), and long load times (which you can be the judge, we didn't edit them out).

As an simpleton named Guybrush Threepwood who aspires to be a pirate, you'll travel from place to place to fulfill "The Three Trials" presented to you by real pirates and get a lot more than you bargained for. It looked great for its time, is well-written, and its sense of humor is perhaps its greatest reward. It's decent if you can endure the load times, but this game has been outdone by various other ports and updates.
