It's a detailed retrospective of Sega, You might even learn something new!

Service Games was founded in 1940 in Honolulu Hawaii. This company was an importer of coin-op machines like Jukeboxes and slot-machines. In the '50s they moved their headquarters to Japan where they focused on making money off Americans in military bases, and eventually, the Japanese public.

Another company during this time was Rosen Enterprises, had developed a pretty solid arcade franchise throughout Japan. Rosen enterprises and Service Games competed with each other, until Rosen Enterprises orchestrated a merger between the two companies. I guess you could say they were the only... GAME In town? This new company adopted the name Service Games, but shortened it, and thus Sega Enterprises was born in 1965.

This merger marks a paradigm shift where Sega Enterprises went from just importing games to actually manufacturing them. Viacom bought Sega during this time and moved their headquarters to the United States, and things went pretty well for Sega until the video game crash of the 1980's. During this time, Sega suffered and was eventually sold to CSK who moved Sega's headquarters back to Japan.
