The Shoot Up #26 - DoDonPachi (PS1) Tate, AL 3670160 pts
Me posting an initial (weak : D) high score in DoDonPachi, the PS1 version, playing on a PS2 with the game in its "Tate" mode, where it displays at 3:4 ratio, horizontally across the monitor (which you then pick up and turn on its side, like the monitors in the arcade cabinets would have been).
One oddity of this version, I'm guessing, is that in Tate mode you don't pick your A/B/C ship type when you start the game; dunno if it was a RAM limitation or something, but instead you have to set the ship type in the Option menu, before starting a game.
The game seems to run really well though, even as manic as it is--much more so than its prequel, DonPachi, and more in line with the later games Cave would really become famous for. I kind of prefer the slightly less manic DonPachi style, but DDP is fun in its own way. ; )
