The Strange Problem With the Sniffer Farm - Talon's Oasis - Ep 120
7All this time and the Sniffer farm has been broken! I was hoping to accumulate cyan dye, but it's not even semi-working. So we spend time trying to fix and improve the farm. I also do brain surgery on a Sniffer to fix some incorrect and bugged nbt.
Extra Stuff:
- Turns out Pokemobs wasn't causing issues with incorrect code. Everything was working as it should, but there were some side effects like the panicking as well as a ton of the Random Spawn Bonus (which happens when using a spawn egg I believe).
- I think I know where the duplicates came from. It appears if you break and replace blocks like I did with the moss and mud sniffers can dig from that same spot again. It's actually a trick to replace all the blocks in a sniffer farm if you're having trouble (preferably with a different type of block to trigger an update). I tried using pistons to do this but with the same block, and it didn't appear to work. Might require breaking the blocks by hand.
- I don't understand it, but after I came back from the nether (after the ep was finished), I tried to afk at the Sniffer farm, but it stopped working again. All the changes made in the episode were good, but there seems to be some deeper bug related to sniffers getting loaded and unloaded? I'm honestly not sure.
Edit: So I placed some stone blocks (not diggable) in the enclosure, poured some water in, and pulled the sniffers from one side to the other with leashes. Something updated them and now they're going again. I tried to log out and go through the nether portal to cause the bug again, but it wouldn't happen. 🙃 Honestly, I might use the water to save on how many hoppers are needed if it's what helped update them.
Edit again (lol): Got Sniffers to break by logging out and in (dug once and quit for hours). Restarted them by pouring water and pulling them with leashes. No clue why it works, but it's fixed the problem twice now.
