The Two Best Cameos in Super Mario RPG (Nintendo Switch) - Retrogaming Easter Eggs #supermariorpg
0The Nintendo Switch remake of Super Mario RPG has plenty of neat cameos, but I'm so glad they kept my two favorites from the original SNES game. This video showcases how and where to see Samus and Link in Super Mario RPG!
To find Link and Samus in SMRPG for the Nintendo Switch, you follow the exact same steps as you would if you were looking for them in the Super Nintendo version of the game.
You can find Link first, and it's pretty easy. After defeating Bowyer in the Forest Maze to find the second Star Piece, return to Rose Town and head to the inn. There will be a brief scene with Gaz and his mother, and you were probably going to do this anyway!
But after the scene plays out, stay a night at the inn (you might need to exit and come back for this). After sleeping at the Rose Town inn, you will find Link from The Legend of Zelda having a big ol' snooze in the bed next to you. Talking to him will play the "you found a secret" sound effect from the classic Zelda games! Specifically, this one sounds like it's from A Link to the Past.
To find Samus, head back to the Mushroom Kingdom after making your way to Monstro Town for the first time (technically, you can find Samus after defeating Belome for the second time).
If you enter the castle and head to the right, you can find the guest bedroom near the vault. Inside the guest bedroom, you will see Samus from the Metroid series resting in the bed. If you talk to her, she tells you she's "resting up for Mother Brain," which implies that this game takes place some time before or during the original Metroid or Super Metroid, I guess?
Or maybe it's an unrelated encounter, idk what Samus does in her free time.
But hey, there are plenty of cameos in Super Mario RPG; these are just my favorite two.
