ZIP TO SKIP Metropolis Zone Act 2 in Sonic 2 (Sega Genesis) - A Wild Glitch Appears! #sonic
0In Sonic the Hedgehog 2 for the Sega Genesis, there's a fairly consistent setup you can exploit to level wrap from the beginning of Metropolis Zone Act 2 all the way to the end of the level! With some practice, this zip glitch allows you to beat the level in approximately 20 seconds, which is "gotta go fast" speed.
At the beginning of Metropolis Zone 2, there's a pool of lava with two floating platforms in it. The goal is to take damage and land on the second floating platform after the knockback. So when the level starts, I like to spindash, collect at least one ring, and land in the lava to the left of the second floating platform WHILE FACING LEFT. You can also face left while the moving rope platform lowers you into the lava.
Either way, you want to bounce from the lava onto the second floating platform. Your invincibility frames will allow you to pass down through the lava as the floating platform drops. Just before Sonic becomes visible in the section with the chain link fence, jump to the right and you should get stuck in the wall.
Once stuck in the wall, run all the way to the right, and perform a short hop to the right, but LET GO of the D-Pad before you land. After landing, tap LEFT on the D-Pad and you should get ejected to the right and you will be standing on top of some ceiling spikes.
Once on the spikes, FULL JUMP then HOLD LEFT, but LET GO of LEFT before you land. You should now be in the correct position to perform the zip.
Now hold RIGHT on the D-Pad and the screen will begin to scroll to the left, but LET GO of the D-Pad once the screen scrolling reverses direction. This will zip you all the way to the end of the level!
