Catch Safari Zone Pokémon OUTSIDE the Safari Zone (Gen 1) - A Wild Glitch Appears! #pokemon
0Catching the rare Pokémon in the Safari Zone can be painfully tedious, because not only are some of the encounters prohibitively rare, but the mechanics of catching Pokemon in the Safari Zone require a lot of luck. In the Generation 1 Pokémon games, however, there's a very simple glitch you can perform which will allow you to catch Safari Zone pokémon OUTSIDE of the Safari Zone!
Here's what you do: First, enter the Safari Zone and head to the area where the pokémon you're looking for can be found. In this example, I went to Area 3 since that's where you can find Tauros and Kangaskhan.
Then, walk around until the announcer on the PA tells you your Safari Game is over. You can also run out of Safari Balls, OR if the pokémon you're looking for is in the very first Center Area of the Safari Zone, you can simply leave on your own.
Once you exit the Safari Zone, head outside the main building and use one of your pokemon to FLY to Cinnabar Island. Note that this glitch can work in multiple different ways, but in this example I'm flying to Cinnabar Island just because it's the easiest imo.
Once you land in Cinnabar Island, walk to the east and SURF along the coastline of the island. Now, as long as you swim up and down this coastline of the city, you should be able to encounter pokémon from the Safari Zone!
Except this time, you don't have to worry about running out of Safari Balls, nor do you have to worry about your step counter. Not to mention, you can fight and catch pokémon like normal instead of using the Safari Zone mechanics. That means the pokemon will be far less likely to run away!
This glitch can technically work with many areas. If you can leave ANY area - for example the abandoned Power Plant - and immediately fly to Cinnabar and surf along the coast, the pokemon you encounter will be from that area - like Voltorbs from the Power Plant.
This glitch works in Pokemon Red, Blue, and Yellow. Maybe it works in Green? Idk!
