The Weird Contradiction About Bayverse Optimus's Color. When it was first announced that Paramount was producing a live action Transformers film. Fans began wondering how the studio would bring the characters to life on the big screen. The franchise had been around for over 20 years at the time. And fans were very particular on how they wanted their favorite characters to be portrayed. After designs of Optimus Prime had leaked on the internet. Fans expressed their frustration. Mainly with the color scheme. They didn’t like how Optimus had flames going through his upper body. Which for the longest time was a design exclusively associated with another Autobot known as Hot Rod/Rodimus Prime. When asked about why this drastic change was made to a character who was mainly red and blue. Michael Bay explained that red didn’t translate well on a metallic CGI image. So, he had to incorporate red flames to offset the issue. However, he would contradict himself later when he added in the character Dino who was an all-red robot. Which made him stand out more.
