The Witcher 3: Missing in action - Walkthrough Guide
Missing in Action is a Side Quest in White Orchard. This quest can be obtained either by visiting the Notice Board, or by journeying to the Ransacked Village to where a man sits with his dog. The man is looking for his brother who was lost in a recent skirmish between the Temerians and Nilfgaardians.
Agree to help him, and follow him out of town and up the hill towards where you first awoke in White Orchard. Nearby lies a great battlefield littered with corpses and corpse-eaters. Your job is to clear the field of Ghouls, and then help the man search for his brother by way of a shield painted with a small flower.
The one you are looking for lies to the left of the battlefield looking North from the road. It lies besides a burnt corpse that isn't actually the brother, but the dog Hussar will still catch the scent from the shield and race of into the woods to the West. follow the dog's trail to a nearby house on top of a ridge. Inside is the missing brother, and the Nilfgaardian soldier who saved his life. They are both wounded, and the choice is yours whether to convince the man to leave the Nilfgaardian behind or not.
If you do convince the man to save the Nilfgaardian soldier, you will find them all happily together later at their farm across the bridge from the town of White Orchard.
