3The trail Ciri left in Novigrad was tangled with betrayal, violence, and fragile alliances. I uncovered that Dudu had taken Henckel’s form to place the bathhouse bomb marking him a loyal friend but also a target. Ciri herself had a hand in the heist, and I learned she’s fled, leaving me with Caleb Menge’s bloody corpse and a note hinting at a higher power behind the Temple Guard’s corruption.
I’d hoped to handle it quietly, but quiet is for fools in Novigrad. I cut Menge down and took a key from his corpse. Triss and I uncovered that the key might unlock Dijkstra’s vault but our paths crossed sharply when I refused to tell him everything.
Triss showed me she’s not all tenderness her method of forcing answers from Menge’s contact chilled even me. That cruelty bought us Ciri’s next clue: she was held on Temple Isle, where I knew the Eternal Fire’s reach was longest and deadliest.
Meanwhile, Whoreson Junior paid for his crimes with his life but his rot lingers. And when Triss asked for my help evacuating the city’s remaining mages, I couldn’t refuse her or the innocent lives she sought to protect. Amid bloodshed on the docks, we saved them, but at a price our parting was inevitable, marked by the final flicker of old affection.
Tonight, the search deepens. The trail twists tighter. Ciri’s fate and mine are still shrouded in Novigrad’s shadows.
