It seems the skullheads have the same skeleton and animations as the dreaded Striga.
Note that Skullheads are actually monsters that died out a long time ago according to the bestiary.

If you ask me this whole part should have been A LOT more difficult, and without allies.

The game is called the Witcher, the combat revolves around clicking the attack button at the right time, which is actually a lot more exciting than it sounds. The Medium and Easy difficulty settings have more visible clues to indicate when to click next, however I play this game with the Hard difficulty setting. There are tons of choices, I tend to go with the sensible and moral choices, though this might put you at a disadvantage from time to time. I might upload videos for alternative choices after completing the entire story.
