Чем его убить, если все вещи заключенных конфискуются? Серебряным мечом, ведь у стражников каким-то образом появляется ведьмачий меч. Закончив работу, Геральт решает разузнать о об этом клинке, подозревая, что его владелец - ведьмак Беренгар. Расспросив стражу, Волк узнает, откуда у них это оружие: Талер дал. Путь Волка лежит прямиком к дому скупщика краденого. После не самого приятного разговора выясняется, что меч не принадлежал Беренгару, а получил его Талер у игрока в кости в таверне "Под кудлатым мишкой". Геральт находит этого человека и узнает, что игрок выиграл этот меч у садовника. Садовник рассказывает, что никаким Беренгаром тут и не пахнет: клинок принадлежал ведьмаку Койону, погибшему в битве под Бренной. Далее следует обратиться к Шани, которая направит Геральта к Золтану, говоря, что тот разбирается в оружии, и действительно краснолюд, сидящий в таверне, отзывается о мече положительно, говоря, что он хорошего качества. Волк получает руну земли, а квест завершается.
