At this point, the methodology for these environmental puzzles is relatively clear. Check the area, use easy puzzles as geographic reference points for places where other, harder puzzles in the same column might be, look for starts or ends of paths (or conspicuous environmental features that haven't been used for anything yet), and experiment.

Eventually, though, it all boils down to "can I find the clues and think in the same way that the developers did".
