The world of Luminous Echo (by Wen Yu Li, Anima's main artist!)
While the name instantly makes me think of video games by the studio imageepoch, the art for this book was anything but and instantly recognizable to me. The majority of the book is done by the designer and illustrator behind much of the Anima Tactics game!
Luminous Echo is basically a big lore book describing a somewhat typical fantasy RPG setting, with tidbits about the world, the people, the fauna, and stat blocks to back it all up.
While there was obviously a talented team of individuals behind this book, the real showstopper is Wen Yu Li's artwork.
When I began to return to the tabletop fold, Anima Tactics' artwork was one of the major contributors to my return (another one being Rackham). There's obviously some manga influence
Sadly at the time, the models just didn't come close to matching the stlyish work that Wen Yu Li was laying down on paper. That isn't a knock on the sculptors either- most of the line was created before 3D sculpting was a thing and getting that anime aesthetic done in traditional sculpting methods in 28mm was not an easy task.
Just about every page has lavish color illustrations showing the world the team came up with, which was quite a feast for a primarily visual person like me.
I would love to see Wen's art on a new project. He was working on a project called Rosgladia but seems to have put that on hiatus. Even more than his art on a new project, I really would love to see his designs done proper justice on the tabletop!
Here's a link to his deviantart page where you can check out all sorts of work by him, including some bits from this book (among other projects).
