Games Workshop: The Return of Illuminor Szeras!
So Szeras is back, and he's got himself a fancy new upgraded body- just the kind I like! Too many limbs, giant base, all kinds of exotic gear... this is how I wanted Necrons to get blinged out for years now! Plus despite his spindly limbs he's in plastic this time around as well!
A precursor of what's to come in 9th edition 40k, Szeras obviously has a similar body frame to the upcoming Skorpekh Destroyer units, I worry Szeras is going to be more an exception rather than the rule when it comes to construction.
If I had to describe him in one word, it would be FIDDLY. It goes without saying that for a model with such delicate limbs and tubes everywhere, LET THE PARTS DRY BEFORE THE NEXT STEP! You see the bits of gunked up glue here and there on him? That's because I got impatient. Don't be like me. Be smarter!
The parts I was most worried about were the arms. Thankfully they locked in pretty well. The delicate bits of biotransference he's playing with in his lower arms are extremely thin, so do take care cutting them out. They felt a bit more solid once glued together at least.
Szeras does certainly get me excited for 9th edition. Hopefully I'll be able to snag a box. For once I think I actually like both sides of the box, but I'll always give the win to the killer sentient robots!
...unless there's super tough black- clad skull helmeted executioners wielding swords as big as they are....
