빛을 모아 어둠을 걷어내는 퍼즐 중심의 어드벤처 게임입니다. 플레이어는 작은 빛의 구체를 수집하고, 이를 활용해 지역마다 존재하는 수정을 밝히는 것을 목표로 하며, 수정을 통해 주변에 퍼진 그림자를 제거하거나 이동이 막힌 경로를 개방할 수 있습니다.
각 수정은 여러 개의 석탑과 마크, 라인으로 구성되어 있습니다. 석탑에는 수집한 빛을 배치할 수 있으며, 빛은 라인을 따라 퍼져나가 교차점에 위치한 마크를 지나게 됩니다. 마크의 조건은 다양합니다. 단일 빛줄기만으로 활성화되는 구조, 모든 라인이 연결되어야 효과가 발생하는 구조, 반대로 빛이 닿지 않아야 활성화되는 마크까지 존재하죠. 각 구조를 면밀히 관찰하고 그 흐름을 해석해 올바른 연결을 구성하는 것이 퍼즐의 핵심입니다.
플레이 도중 그림자의 존재도 확인할 수 있습니다. 이들은 직접적인 위협을 가해오며, 대응을 위해 플레이어는 보유한 빛을 좌클릭으로 쏘아낸 뒤, 그림자와 겹쳐지는 순간 우클릭으로 폭발시켜 제거해야 합니다. 빛을 사용한 이후에는 일정 시간 재사용이 제한되므로, 정확한 타이밍이 중요하게 작용합니다.
수정이 활성화되면 해당 구역의 그림자가 제거되며, 이후 새로운 구역으로의 진입이나 숨겨진 경로가 열리게 됩니다. 이러한 흐름을 반복하며 점차 넓어지는 맵을 탐험하게 되고, 최종적으로 가장 깊숙한 지역의 거대 수정을 밝혀내는 것이 게임의 목적입니다.
게임 전체적으로는 감성적인 연출과 조용한 퍼즐 풀이가 조화를 이루며, 짧지만 구조가 명확하게 설계된 구성으로 부담 없이 즐기기 좋습니다. 다만, 플레이 타임이 짧은 편이고, 현재는 경과 시간을 명확히 확인할 수 있는 UI가 마련되어 있지 않아 아쉬움을 남깁니다.
그럼에도 불구하고, 빛의 흐름과 그림자 사이의 간단하지만 정제된 상호작용은 매 퍼즐마다 적절한 긴장감을 부여하며, 반복적인 연계와 해석의 즐거움을 선사하는 작품입니다.

There Will Be Light is a minimalist puzzle adventure where players collect spheres of light to activate crystals and drive away surrounding shadows. Each puzzle area is centered around a crystal structure, connected by lines, stone towers, and activation marks that must be carefully understood and utilized.
Collected light can be placed into stone towers, sending its energy along lines toward various marks. These marks vary in condition—some activate with a single beam, others require full line connections, and some only respond when no light touches them. Decoding these mechanics and creating the correct layout is key to solving each puzzle.
Occasionally, shadowy threats appear. To deal with them, players must shoot light using the left click and detonate it precisely by right-clicking as it overlaps with the enemy. Light enters a short cooldown after detonation, so accuracy and timing are crucial to avoid being overwhelmed.
Once the crystal is correctly activated, it dispels surrounding darkness and unlocks new paths or reveals hidden areas. This process repeats as players progress through the map, ultimately leading to a large central crystal that marks the final objective.
Though the game’s length is on the shorter side and lacks a visible playtime tracker, it offers a well-structured, visually serene experience. The interplay between light manipulation and shadow interruption gives each moment a calm yet focused rhythm, appealing to players who enjoy thoughtful spatial puzzles with subtle emotional tone.
