In line with the European Union’s aim to become climate neutral by 2050 and its Green Deal, Berlin takes energy transition to the underground.
The country’s sewer and wastewater pressure networks are becoming a sustainable source of energy. An office building in the city is sustainably supplied with hot and cold temperatures from wastewater and it covers 50% of the temperature needs, saving approximately 400 tons of CO2.
