God of War Ragnarök actor Adam J. Harrington explains why Sindri could not forgive Atreus and why he took Brok's hammer at the end of the game.

Before God of War 2018, Brok died. Sindri, unable to live without his brother, jumped into the Lake of Souls and retrieved his brother's soul pieces, except for one. He resurrected Brok for selfish reasons. However, if Brok were to ever die again, he could not transcend to the Norse afterlife with an incomplete soul.

Sindri dealt with the trauma of his brother's first death by becoming a germophobe and over-caring for those around him. His need for control drove him to give Kratos and Atreus whatever they needed on their journey to keep them safe.

When Odin killed Brok after using Atreus to enter their home, Sindri felt immense guilt, shame, and rage at himself for denying his brother an afterlife. Unable to deal with this pain, Sindri lashed out at the people closest to him and pushed them away.

Sindri took up Brok's hammer as a way to keep his brother's memory alive, and even took on his brother's personality. Sindri took off his gloves, shed his germophobia, and threw himself into battle. He delivered the final blow that killed Odin, thus completing his vengeance on the mad god.
