It’s no secret that I have a lot of controllers so when MegaModz reached out to me and asked if I wanted to unbox one of their new custom RGB controllers I was all in!
The controller arrives in a pretty nondescript package, but don’t let that fool you. We can tell from box that the controller at its core is an official xbox series controller.
Opening it up we see the ebony wood grain I selected along with the chameleon purple buttons.
The heaven blue bumpers look great along the top and while I really like the mint green color, trying to fit green into all my customer controllers if I had to do it over again I’d have gone with either all heaven blue or all mint green. I wouldn’t have mixed and matched the too.
The sides have the rubberized performance grips. These feel a little rougher in texture than the rubberized grips you’ll find on an xbox controller that comes with these upgrades but they still feel good. I also selected the hybrid trigger stops which boast precise in game control and feed back. These are two position switches that have a 1.5mm and a standard pull of 9.mm. You can really tell the difference.
There is also the option for back paddles but those are not compatible with the RGB. Which leads us to the real star of the show….the RGB.
The Mega Modz Xbox Series X LED Mod offers 7 illuminating colors: red, green, blue, yellow, pink, purple, cyan, And 2 additional sub-modes with slow and fast blinking, cycling through all available colors. RGB Lighting can be turned OFF at any time.
The Illuminating components on the controller are the
Right & Left Sticks
D-pad
ABXY
Menu, View, and Share
There are 2 stock controller buttons involved in the process of configuring LED Illumination on the Mega Modz RGB Xbox Controller.
The configuring buttons are the following:
Menu Button
View Button
Depending on the operational step a combination of these buttons needs to be either quickly pressed or held down for a certain amount of time.
H2 - Turning the Controller LED Illumination ON and OFF
To turn the Controller’s Illumination ON, please follow the steps below:
Hold down the Menu button for approximately 7 seconds
All Illuminating Components on the controller will light in the color/mode you’ve used before powering down the controller last time.
Use the same steps as above to turn the Illumination OFF.
H2 - Changing LED Colors/Modes
To change the LED color/mod quickly press and release the combination of the View and Menu Buttons
Please refer to the table below with LED colors/modes
Red Color.
Green Color.
Blue Color.
Yellow Color.
Pink Color.
Purple Color.
Cyan Color.
Slow Blinking Mod.
Fast Blink Mode.
I wouldn’t not recommend using the fast blink mode unless you want to cause someone to have a possible seizure.
