From the absurd, yet ingenious mind of Yoko Taro comes one of the most philosophically dense games I've ever played.

What is the purpose of existence?

Can robots have a soul?

How can one find meaning in a meaningless world?

These are provocative questions that permeate throughout #nierautomata

The game tells a complex, multilayered story that encourages multiple playthroughs to get to the true ending.

Trust me, attaining that ending is worth it.

The story is about two androids fighting a proxy war against an alien robot army and winning back the Earth.

Along the way, they uncover the (distressing) mystery of the world.

Honestly, you will have more fun learning about philosophy from playing this game than sitting in an overpriced university lecture.

Speaking of fun, you'll be happy to know playing through multiple playthroughs is bloody enjoyable.

The combat is fun, fast-paced, and just keeps you on your toes. You'll be hacking robots with giant hammers, spears, and swords all the while evading their attacks.

The music is arguably the best part of the music. It is one of the best scores I've ever heard in a video game. You can either to the soothing tunes or working out to it's pulse-pounding battle themes.

If I had one criticism, is that the visuals in the environment are bland.

Still, the game is a fun philosophical journey that makes you question your own existence.

Not to mention it ends one heckuva quote:

"The future is not given to you, it is something you must take for yourself."
