Here is a trio of tunes that I arranged for playback on the Super Nintendo. The audio was all captured from a North American launch model SNES deck.

0:00 El Viento, Final Battle theme (Motoi Sakuraba, Sega Genesis)
2:27 Side Arms, Round 2 & 8 BGM (Takashi Tateishi, TurboGrafx-16)
4:32 Darius, Captain Neo (Hisaiyoshi Ogura, Arcade/PC Engine)

This time, instead of going with the usual full complement of instrument samples, I wanted to tackle these tracks with bright PSG tones, 80s style. I stuck mostly to using single-cycle waveforms (lots of bitcrushed, heavily aliased square, sine, and saw waves!) supported by snappy drum samples, and in the case of El Viento, punchy orchestra hits. It's pretty amazing just how big a sound you can get from such tiny samples!

I think the Super Nintendo managed to put up a decent imitation of PC Engine's sound aesthetic. What do you guys think of the picks, and of how they turned out? Thanks for listening!
