As you can tell, the whistle is derived from that found in Pikmin 1 & 2. Pikmin 3's whistle is cool too, but this one was quicker to make and is my personal favorite. I created the whistle sound effect myself using the whistle from the Fluid R3 GM SoundFont, which I use for my music as well. The whistle effect was achieved using 6 Particle Systems emitting at slightly different times and heights and a Particle System Force Field to redirect the particles into an orbiting motion.
