I love this game.
The mixture of 2d and 3d low polygon objects may be considered graphically outdated, but the game is still pretty cool aesthetically, and the ost is banging to say the least.
Gameplay wise it is a top notch horizontal shooter, a tad shorter and definitely easier compared to its prequel on Genesis/Megadrive, but still quite engaging and sometimes chaotic.
The lower difficulty is mostly due to how overpowered some of the new attacks are.
This would be a no death run if not for the final boss, I hate that guy.
