This is a complete playthrough of Thunder Spirits for the Super Nintendo. This is all from a real system and cartridge; however, I recorded it onto a Betamax tape first because I only recently acquired a TV capture system for my PC. Therefore, the quality might be a bit off.

Many people believe that this is the SNES version of Thunder Force III for the Sega Genesis. That's not 100% true. Thunder Spirits is really a port of an arcade game known as Thunder Force AC, which was an arcade adaptation of Thunder Force III.

Graphically, Thunder Spirits is just about on par with Thunder Force AC. However, the music sounds very thin and is missing instruments, and many of the voices in Thunder Force AC are gone (only the power-up voices remain). But the biggest problem with Thunder Spirits is the rampant slowdown, which occurs almost every time you start firing (this may explain why rapid fire is disabled by default).

Overall, Thunder Spirits is far too easy, which is made even easier by the slowdown. Even on the so-called "Maniac" mode and rapid-fire turned off, I could probably beat this game in my sleep. It is by far the easiest SHMUP I've ever played.
