Tilda Terminal is an Drop Down console style terminal similar to the console in old Quake games.
You can change the font and background colours, and also enable transparency.

Install instructions for Ubuntu:
sudo apt-get install tilda
Also install "dconf-tools" if you want to set Tilda as the default terminal in Gnome based distros.
