Xubuntu 12.10 Review - Lightweight Unity Alternative
101Review of Xubuntu 12.10 Final Release. Xubuntu uses XFCE desktop, which is more of a classic lightweight Gnome 2.x styled desktop, ideal for older less powerful systems, its also an ideal alternative to Unity.
There hasn't been a lot in the way of new changes, most of the work has been on the offline documentation.
Unlike the previous release of Xubuntu 12.04LTS its only supported for 18 months and not five years.
With all the additional bugs its not really worth upgrading from Xubuntu 12.04
