INTRODUCTION:
Escape the time-warp by clearing all four stages of the game. You may move between the Volcano stage, the Ruins stage and the Saqqarah stage by using the Time Tunnels, but to reach the final stage you must clear all three of these stages first...

HOW TO PLAY AND WHAT TO DO:

VOLCANO STAGE:
Light the lamps which spell VOLCANO by flipping the ball up the
transparent volcano lanes. When all the lamps are lit the Volcano will erupt.

SAQQARAH STAGE:
Light the yellow lights in the lamps by knocking down the targets, then drop the ball into the Triple ball hole (the lane on the top screen with the three arrows) to build up the pyramid.

RUINS STAGE:
Drop balls into the COLLECT BALL hole in the centre of the top screen. When you have collected two balls and knocked down all targets at the buttom, turning them red, you will be awarded a Fire Ball when all targets at the top screen is also knocked down. If you succeed in dropping the Fire Ball into the COLLECT BALL hole the Ruins capsule will be destroyed.

SPECIAL STAGE:
In the best Arkanoid / Krakout style you have to get rid of the letters S-P-E-C-I-A-L to complete this stage and become the Pinball King!

REVIEW:
Time Scanner is an arcade game published by SEGA in 1987 and the ZX Spectrum port is very ambitious. There are four tables, which all consists of two screens, so actually there are eight tables. The first three tables can be freely selected and the last one is unlocked by beating the other three.

A lot of bumpers and obstacles needs to be hit to unlock stuff and make progress on each screen, and each screen have their own set of paddles. The aim of the game is to get the time tunnel activated on the top screen of each table, through this tunnel you will enter the next table.

This is a very nice looking highly detailed pinball game almost without any clash, there is some nice in game tunes, and besides the paddles there is also a button for tilt. It seems to be impossible to make the ball go in certain angles with the paddles, no matter how much speed the ball has, making some targets very difficult to hit, and in general the game is very tough considering how big it is, but still a very cool and interesting game, and probably the best pinball game available for the ZX Spectrum.

The game was published by Activision Inc in 1989.
