0:00 - Intro
00:50 - Tomb (Difficulty 5/9) Fairly tough for the first mission. There are a lot of enemies to get through and it will take a few tries to learn when best to use your dynamite. The environments are claustrophobic making it hard to side strafe the hard hitting Timeplitters. Thankfully, there are few shotgun enemies and those exist wield the blunderbuss, the weakest shotgun in the game.

7:18 - China (Difficulty 8/9) Lots of enemies, many of them wielding shotguns and the timeplitters are relentless once you acquire the briefcase, forcing you to leg it straight to the exit. Take your time getting to the briefcase, save health if you have to and be sure to pick up the armour. Once you get the briefcase, get your Kenyan boots on.

12:20 - Cyberden (Difficulty 2/9) Not too tough. The biggest threat comes from enemies wielding rocket launches. Unlike shotgun enemies however, these can be side-strafed relatively reliably. You get a lot of powerful weapons and a fair amount of health and armour to blast through.

17:30 - Village (Difficulty 1/9) Probably the easiest map. Whilst there are a lot of enemies with shotguns, they do not have great reactions on this map. Just make sure you clear out all the nook and crannies so you don’t get shot in the back and your good to go.

22:06 - Chemical Plant (Difficulty (7/9) Lots of shotgun enemies hiding in dark corners and crooks to drain your life if you’re not careful. Don’t even bother using the sniper rifle as you will get spanked trying to aim and enemies frequently fall down whilst you are trying to be sneaky. Mercifully it is probably the shortest map at least.

26:10 - Planet X (Difficulty 3/9) There are a lot of enemies but they do not deal much damage. The Scifi auto rifle is a versatile weapon which will allow you to make mince of most of the aliens. The biggest threat comes from the ambush when picking up the brain. Other than this, it’s fairly straightforward.

30:23 - Mansion: (Difficulty 9/9) Hands down the hardest and longest map in the original game. Lots of enemies with shotguns, frequent ambushes, and needing head shots to down the zombies using the wonky manual aiming is no fun. For rotten corpses, the zombie police have god like accuracy and reactions (and frequently fire a double-barrelled shotgun what seems like 4 or 5 times…). There’s no armour and whilst there is plenty of health, it comes as little solace when one mistake can see you go from 100 – 0 in less than a second. Oh, and backtracking to find health usually spawns more zombies...Good luck!

38:35 - Docks (Difficulty 4/9) like the chemical plant, don’t even bother with the sniper rifle. The biggest threat comes from the limited ammo, and the snipers in vantage points early in the map. Get past these, and the rest of it is pretty easy and short.

43:45 - Spaceways (Difficulty 6/9) Difficult, but not for the right reasons. There’s no health and only one tiny armour pickup tucked away. Enemies do not deal much damage but there is a lot of them. The easiest way to complete this is actually to try and speed run it. There are so many enemies that later ones fail to spawn as the game cannot handle it (this is how you get close to the world record of 54 seconds). I tried to show of doing it properly however. It’s a shame this is the last map as I feel it is the worst designed one of the original game.

I had some difficulty emulating this one on PCSX2. If I ran it in software mode, I would get frequent slowdowns (despite the fact my computer is a beast) and when it was ran on hardware mode, lights would frequently be seen through walls. I decided to go with the later as I felt it messed with game-play the least.
