--------------------------------------------------DESCRIPTION--------------------------------------------------
In order to get medals for a given mission, you must complete the mission under the target time whilst also completing the optional objectives. This can be done on any difficulty, although I chose to put it on hard as I felt this would not be a proper guide otherwise.
I think the races occupy a sort of Rock, Paper, Scissors triangle. The aliens tend to do better against the Predators, beating back their strength and technology with sheer brute force and numbers. They replenish their units quick enough to deal with skirmishes with hunters and stalkers, have the numbers to overrun hydras, and PredAliens are resistant enough to simply shrug off Blazer attacks. However, when properly organised, a solid blanket of marine fire can stop almost any horde advance, forcing you to try and pick them off in smaller skirmishes. Upgraded Sadar troopers can stop an entire horde of trans breed aliens in their tracks, Flame-throwers can ignite your whole army and then smart-gunners can pick off the stragglers. Unless you have runners in your army (Or PredAliens who have very high flame armour) you will want to avoid flamethrower units when possible. These are capable of damaging your entire horde in one go.
Alien Vs Predator Extinction had its problems. It is by no means a perfect game, but it always occupied a soft spot in my childhood. The lack of multilayer or skirmish battles meant that you were left with 7 scenarios for each race. As a rule of thumb, you will want to upgrade your face-huggers and eggs first to rapidly expand the hive before going to other upgrades. Usually you will only want to focus on praetorian and purebred alien creation once most, if not all upgrades are purchased. Most missions require you to wipe out enemies. Once the majority have been killed, you can set your hordes to patrol mode across the map. This will usually make them split up and hunt down any strugglers, especially useful in Missions 2 and 6 when trying to finish under par time.
Also, unlike the other species, I felt that every single alien had its place within the horde, whilst both the marines and predators had troops that seemed kind of redundant. Even the relatively weak runners will explode when killed by means of flame. This makes them especially good suicide bombers when assaulting Predator shrines, as can be seen in Mission 6 (1:43:35). If upgraded Warriors are killed by means other than fire, they will regenerate with half health and no legs. Heal these by placing them on hive nodes. Once they heal up to full health, they will regenerate their legs.
Ravagers become monstrous in the final mission. Although the fact that they kill enemies outright makes them poor when hosts are needed for the hives. Against the K-series aliens which cannot be used anyway, they are especially good at carving through the yellow bastards. Once upgraded, they will enter a regensis state upon losing all health. If they are not killed with overwhelming force or flame based weaponry, they will regenerate to life a near infinite amount of times. This means that unless the K-series aliens stick several aliens on a ravager to ensure its death, they will keep coming back again and again, and become virtually invincible.
