TNO Custom Super Event: Operation Southern Cross (Australia Badend)
Here's a little surprise TNO custom event, that would hypothetically happen for Australia's badend. Whether it's succumbing to Japanese pressure, or an inability to address its internal problems, the government may institute "Operation Southern Cross": a last-ditch attempt to restore order and some semblance of a "last bastion" as society crumbles.
This at a glance would fail, resulting in outright chaos, white-line nightmares, and potentially men feeding on men. Not even counting if this coincides with shrimp boats or vengeful Russians deciding to do a gamer move. Still, as the 1959 movie "On the Beach" intones hauntingly at the end, there is still time. Time...to heal all sorrows.
For some trivia, the audio is the ending from "On the Beach", which uses a haunting rendition of Waltzing Matilda" ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l_o8vX8lGss ), before segueing to the opening sequence of the original "Mad Max" film from 1979 ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8BadQJhUq4A ). While the '80s Australian EAS visuals are taken from Youtube channel The Final Minutes ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pX7GP1OKY1c ), though the alert siren is from the real Standard Emergency Warning Signal ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jM4gPCLzLO8 ), which has been in use since the 1970s.
And for some extra trivia, the initial image was taken from Adelaide around 1970. The ending clip, you could say, is also set in Adelaide...and featuring a certain auto-memory doll... ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i67IxgWFI8I )
